Secret GM – Trade Reviews 79-97

3 min read

Now the season has started and the trades seem to have quieted down, here’s my next review:

Trade 79:

Celtics receive: Doug McDermott (3)
Warriors receive: Davis Bertans (4)

Something a little fishy going on here? The Warriors released Bertans pretty much straight after the trade, however it was only Doug McDermott…So who really cares? Or should we care? However how many teams is it that Bertans has been on now? Spoiler – hes involved in more trades..

Trade 82:

Hawks get:
Davis Bertans (4)
Grayson Allen (1)
2023 Lakers / 76ers Swap Best 1st (1)
2025 Hornets 1st (1)

Clippers get:
Klay Thompson (8)

Another Bertans move, I hope he has a good real estate agent?! Given the course of direction the Hawks are going (see trade 84), it makes sense to move Klay. However I think the Hawks could have got more for Klay than two late firsts and 2 end of bench players.

The Clippers are quietly putting together a good roster, at the start of the season, I thought they would be in contention for the worst team. Just shows how quickly things can change.

Trade 83:

Knicks receive: Xavier Tillman (1) + Terrance Davis (1) + pelicans 2024 2nd

Pelicans receive: Jaden Mcdaniels (1) + Iggy (1)

Im surprised the Knicks gave up McDaniels, there has been a lot of talk about him in pre season and the potential to be a defensive stud. However I looked at Tillman’s per 36 stats and those steals……I think the trade helps the Knicks this season but may regret it long term. Whilst the Pelicans add another nice young piece to their roster.

Trade 84:

76ers Receive: Sexton (2)
2023 Lakers (1)
2025 Hornets (1)
3 x hawks second 23,24,25 (3)

Hawks Receive: ATL 23 1st (1)
Greg Monroe (1)
Kenny Lofton (1)
Jaylin Williams (1)
dubljevic  (Stash) (1)
agravanis (Stash) (1)

127 replies to this trade…Do I need to say anymore?? Well maybe one word – VETO!!

Trade 85:

Hawks receive: Cole Anthony (1)
Marcus Morris (4)
New York 23 1st (1)
Denver 23 1st (1)
Denver 23 2nd (1)
Brooklyn 23 2nd (1)

Nets receive: AD (8)

The Nets just became a legit challenger to the 76ers, if AD can stay injury free of course. Again, I think the Hawks could have got more for AD, two late firsts and Cole Anthony isn’t enough and surly they must have had better trade offers for AD. Maybe the Hawks need to show a little patience with their trade talks, to get the best deal.

Trade 86:

Sixers receive:
2024 Jazz 1st(1) + 2023 Spurs 2nd(1)

Rockets receive:
Collin Sexton(2)

Even deal for both teams. Sexton fits the direction which the Rockets are going and the 76ers with their cap issues, couldn’t really keep Sexton

Trade 91:

Magic get:
TBlazers first round pick in 2023 (1)
Damion Lee(1)

TBlazers get: Marcus Smart (3)

Smart ending up at the Blazers, is a good move all around it fills a void which the Blazers needed filling at the point and it helped the Magic get another Magic player in Trade 93 (Cole Anthony)!

Trade 93:

Bulls get: Gabe Vincent (1), Kemba Walker (2) and Blake Griffin (1)

TBlazers get: Josh Richardson (3)

Feels like Richardson has been on the move a lot this season and will be a good backup to Lavine and DeRozan for the Blazers. Chris must wish it was 2005 with a roster with Kemba, Blake, Horford and co….

Trade 94:

Orlando get THT (2) Bol (1) and Bulls 2nd 2023

Kings get: Aaron Gordon (4)

Whose the best player in this trade? When the trade was first sent through in October, it appeared it was clearly Gordon, now it actually turns out to be Bol Bol. Bol seems to be able to do abit of everything with his large frame. Will be interesting if he can keep it up all season, but at the moment it would appear the Magic have maybe got a steal!

Trade 95:

Nets get: Hassan Whiteside (1) and Colin Gillespie (1)

Warriors get: Lance Stephenson (1)

Quote Illia – “Did I just see a trade with 3 players currently not in the league? Love it.

Trade 97:

Heat receive Darius Days (1) + Xavier Moon (1)

Bulls receive Pat Beverley (3)

Good move for both teams, Bev wasn’t going to play on the Heat and therefore, wise to offload him for a couple of young guys. It improves the Bulls and ups there defense even further. Could be a surprise package this season.

Hope you enjoyed guys!
