What’s up DTNBA? I hope everyone is enjoying the start of the 2024-25 season! It’s definitely off to a wild start. I’m excited to progress through my first regular season and am much more comfortable now having ran the Summer League and Pre-Season through the Jump Shot Basketball program. Very happy to have the website back and a big shout out to Marc for leading me in the right direction and teaching me the ways with the program, the website uploads, and overall direction of the league during in the passing of the torch. Thank you again to Pat for taking charge with getting the website back up! Much appreciated. It seems that everyone has adapted well to the new rules and I am looking forward to the upcoming Rule Change Proposals (December 1st – Round 1) for the 2025-26 Season.
A couple observations/spicy takes 2 weeks into the season:
– Some GM’s have been more active than others as expected. I appreciate the effort being put in by most GM’s to keep up with injuries and DC’s. I think the overwhelming amount of injuries the first week of our games was wild and some got missed for sure. The last batch of games seemed to be more in line and I look forward to everyone getting their players healthy so we can truly see who are the contenders and who are the pretenders.
– INJURIES in the DTNBA, like the NBA this year have been a killer to multiple teams but no team has been hit by the injury bug harder than AJ’s Trail Blazers 🙁 Can they bounce back? My early call is that they will bounce back and win some games but will will fall from finishing 2nd last season to being in a dog fight for a playoff spot this year.
– Only 1 undefeated team remains – Nuno’s Raptors (5-0) | Next 5 opponents – Jazz, Hawks, Blazers, Bulls, Clippers | Can the Raptors make it to a 10-0 start? My call is that they finish at 8-2 after 10 games.
– My current TOP 10 Power Ranking: Miami Heat (8-1), Sacramento Kings (6-1), Philadelphia 76ers (7-2), Oklahoma City Thunder (6-2), Golden State Warriors (4-1), Brooklyn Nets (4-1), Toronto Raptors (5-0), Detroit Pistons (5-1), Memphis Grizzlies (5-1), San Antonio Spurs (5-1)
– Biggest surprises: The amount of injuries Portland has faced | Jaylen Wells being the 2nd minutes eligible rookie behind Zaccharie Risacher. I rated Wells fairly highly pre-draft but didn’t think he would be the first Grizzlies rookie to become eligible, let alone the 2nd league wide.
– No surprise: Teams like the 76ers (7-2) and Thunder (6-2) battled through early injuries and still managed to come out on the other side in good shape
– KP and Hartenstein injuries have crippled the Clippers. Can they turn it around? My early call is that they cannot, and will end up falling from finishing 3rd in the West last year to missing the playoffs this year.
– A new team in the West playoff picture? The West is very talented and every game is going to count for most of the conference. 3 or 4 good teams are going to miss the playoffs, who will it be? I’m not ready to make that call just yet. Maybe next time!
That’s all for now!
Regards,
JBS
The Knicks expect to be mentioned in the top 10 next month!
